Goal Setting is for Losers!

Goal setting is for losers … people who want to LOSE weight that is!

Setting goals isn’t some sort of magic wand that means you’ll get what you want. But go through life without goals and see how much (or better yet, how little) you get accomplished.

But here’s the thing about goals that I want you to take away today … I believe it’s THE number one reason that most dieters fail and give up WAY too soon.

Your goals must be BELIEVED TO BE ACHIEVABLE by you!

If you’re 120 pounds overweight and your goal is to lose 100 pounds, that’s a great goal.

And that is an achievable goal. No question about it.

But the important key here is … do you REALLY BELIEVE you can do it?

Do you KNOW you can? Or do you HOPE you can? (There’s a big difference you know.)

My belief is that with any goal – especially with weight loss – it’s important to break up your goal into “bite-size” pieces of easily attainable (and BELIEVABLE) goals.

Let’s go back to the 100 pound example.

If you could do that over 2 years, would that work for you?

Great, then do this…

Set a goal of losing 1 pound a week for the next 100 weeks.

Which is more believable to you…

- Losing 100 pounds in 2 years?

- Losing 1 pound a week for 2 years?

See the difference?  Do you see how the power of believing in what you’re doing can help be a strong continuing motivation for you vs. a dragging sensation of “this is too hard”?
